Booking FAQ
What’s the booking process like?
1. Needs Assessment
You share your event concept, ideas, and key details with us:
- Date | Location | Budget | Expected number of guests | Private or public event?
- All relevant information is requested in our booking form
2. Concept Development & Consultation
- Burnagement creates a tailored proposal based on your budget and event concept.
- We then check artist availability and work together to make any necessary adjustments.
- Next, we’ll discuss the technical requirements and, if needed, connect you with trusted event production partners.
3. Offer Process & Booking Procedure
- You select your preferred artists – Burnagement prepares and sends official offers.
- Once you approve, we forward the offer to the artist’s management.
- Important: From this point on, the offer is binding! Please make sure you are ready to commit and that the budget is confirmed.
- Acceptance is formalized in a deal memo – the booking is then legally binding.
4. Execution & Event Preparation
- A performance contract is drawn up, reviewed by us upon request, and signed by you.
- If desired, Burnagement also handles the complete logistical planning.
What makes up an artist fee?
An artist fee consists of several components, including:
- The artist’s fee itself
- The booking fee charged by the agency (approx. 15%)
- The Künstlersozialkasse (KSK) – a social security contribution for artists in Germany (currently 5% of the artist’s fee, as of 01/2025)
- All fees are subject to VAT
Additionally, a withholding tax may apply for artists based outside the country of the event. For more information, see: “What is the foreign artist tax?”
What is the foreign artist tax?
Artists who are based outside of the country where they perform are - depending on the country - required to pay tax on their fee. This is regulated by the Withholding Tax (WHT), known in German as Ausländersteuer.
In Germany, the tax rate is 15.825% and must be paid by the event organizer directly to the tax authorities via a certified tax advisor.
What are the additional costs of an artist booking?
In addition to the agreed artist fee, the following costs may apply depending on the contract terms:
- Hotel accommodation for the artist and crew
- Travel expenses for the artist and crew (often covered via a travel buy-out)
- Shuttle/transfer costs between airport/train station, hotel & venue (ground transport)
- Costs related to the Artist Rider, including:
- Hospitality Rider (e.g. drinks, meals, accommodation)
- Technical Rider (e.g. DJ equipment, lighting and sound tech, special effects)
- The booking fee (usually 10–20% of the artist fee) charged by the booking agency may also be considered part of the additional costs.
Why are artists categorized as Burnagement Artists, in Cooperation, and in Network?
Burnagement represents a number of well-known top DJs exclusively in selected regions and markets. These are listed under Burnagement Artists.
Some artists are booked in cooperation with trusted partner agencies, allowing us to offer a wider range of high-profile acts while maintaining close coordination with their official representation.
In addition, Burnagement has built a broad network of outstanding artists who have already been successfully booked for both our own and external events. These acts are part of our extended roster and reflect the strength of our industry connections.
